He was born in Mantua, Italy in 1975 . From an early age, he learned his craft from his father, the master luthier Gianni Mariotto.
He graduated from the Advanced School with a Diploma in Geometry and then devoted all his time to making and restoring double basses and cellos.
He continues to study wood carving and other technique to further refine his workmanship under the direction of Master Gianni Massagrande.
In recent years he has been making violins and violas under the guidance of Master Mario Gadda.
His violin, viola and 'cello models are all inspired by the Mantuan violin makers Stephan Scarampella and Gaetano Gadda.
Guido Mariotto's work has received great praise, and he has won awards for his double basses in important instrument makers' competitions . These have included the gold medal in the 2001 Baveno event, mention of Honour in the 2003 International Stradivarius Competition in Cremona, and in 2009 he was awarded the silver medal at the same event.
